Bethel Park will be changing its garbage pickup structure for Waste Management services, enabling residents to now place their yard waste curbside along with regular garbage collection. The change will go into effect April 1.

“This transition reflects a best-practice method to ensure that our residents are provided the best service available,” municipal manager Laurence Christian said. “Our automated waste recovery service will now include the pickup of additional items outside of the garbage toter to include branches and yard waste cut to 36 inches, bundled and placed adjacent to the toter.”

Bethel Park residents should fill their toters to capacity and place only items unable to fit in the toter alongside it for pickup. The existing bulk waste and recycling schedule will remain unchanged.

According to Christian, residents shouldn’t encounter any degradation in service.

“This change will only enhance their existing solid waste and recycling pickup,” he said.

Currently, residents use a drop off site for yard waste located at the Bethel Park Public Works Building once per month from April through September.
