Volunteers will be on hand to take donations of gently used clothing and shoes for youngsters in kindergarten through sixth grade. Items in particular demand include jeans, shorts, polos, sweatshirts, sneakers, dress shoes and dress clothes in all sizes and genders.
Donations also will be accepted after the drive at the Salvation Army Pittsburgh Temple Worship and Service Center, 1060 McNeilly Road, Mt. Lebanon.
The donations will be sorted and then distributed to those in need prior to the start of the new school year. The collection is part of the Salvation Army’s annual effort to assist students in need with clothes, backpacks, school supplies, haircuts and more.
“Cleaning out your closets is always a great feeling and we know many people have being doing just that during these past two months. Now, they have the opportunity to share those items with those truly in need. What a blessing that can be,” Lt. Jonathan Lewis, commanding officer of worship and service center, said.
