The sign says it all prior to the start of the parade.

The Historical Society of Mount Lebanon is collecting images and stories related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and a May 29 event provided plenty of opportunity for relevant material.

A Class of 2020 Senior Salute honored Mt. Lebanon High School graduates with a cavalcade of fire, police, emergency and school district vehicles driving by the homes of each of the 423 seniors.

Throughout the municipality, students and their families were treated to greetings by high school faculty members, police officers, firefighters and Medical Rescue Team South Authority personnel, with cameras and smartphones recording the proceedings along the way.

The event incorporated strict safety rules, with the procession limited to the vehicles that gathered at Mt. Lebanon Public Safety Building prior to taking off at 9 a.m. and putting in a full day’s work as organizers made sure to include all the seniors on the parade route.
