Breakfast With Santa and Mrs. Claus returned to where it belongs for 2021.

“It’s so good to have everybody back here,” Bill Haberthur, Bethel Park Historical Society secretary, said during the Dec. 4 event. “Last year, we had to do it at Simmons Park, and it just wasn’t the same.”

Following a drive-through version in 2020, the historical society was able to host this year’s breakfast at its headquarters, the Schoolhouse Arts and History Center on South Park Road.

“We really felt that we could do it because we have a 12,000-square-foot building, and now that the second floor has heat and air conditioning, we could spread out a little bit more,” Haberthur said.

Breakfast, provided by Ray Piacquadio of Pasta Too, was served in three spacious rooms on the first floor. As youngsters and their families ate, they were greeted by Joseph and Beth Hancsak reprising their annual role as the Clauses.

On the second floor, Santa spoke with children while Mrs. Claus handed out gift bags donated by Kim McKinney of South Park Shops. The historical society also acknowledged Jackie Coates of Jadon Trucking for his financial donation toward making the event possible.

Also upstairs, Jim and Noreen Modery were on hand with a magnificent model railroad display featuring three different gauges of trains.

“They have spent the past month getting everything organized and did a beautiful job,” Haberthur said. “It really just worked out beautifully.”
