Resurrection Parish announces SummerFest 2021 in Bethel Park

Resurrection Parish, which is comprised of St. John Capistran and St. Thomas More churches, announced its first summer festival.

SummerFest will run from 6 to 10 p.m. June 21-26 at St. Thomas More Church, 126 Fort Couch Road, Bethel Park.

  • Live entertainment will be featured from 7 to 10 p.m. on the outdoor stage:
  • Monday – Night at the Races;
  • Tuesday – local youth performance groups, including East End Kids and Shovlin Irish Dancers;
  • Wednesday – Jeff Jimerson and Airborne;
  • Thursday – The Mansfield 5;
  • Friday – No Bad Juju;
  • Saturday — Mon Valley Push and Ray Jay and the Carousels.

A Polka Mass will be celebrated indoors in St. Thomas More at 4 p.m. June 26, with the Rev. Mark Eckman as celebrant.

Major Inflatable Attractions brings fun for all ages, with festival attendees able to compete on a four-lane, 50-foot obstacle course, test their accuracy skills with ax throwing, outlast seven other players against the Mega Wrecking Ball and reach new heights on a 22-foot slide

Festival dinners are offered Tuesday, American picnic; Thursday, Italian cuisine from Franco’s Trattoria in Peters Township; and Saturday, Polish cuisine, featuring homemade pierogi and stuffed cabbage.

Socially distanced, indoor dining begins at 5 p.m., with a cash bar and a la carte desserts. Advance reservations are required. For more information, visit resurrectionpgh.org, click on the SummerFest icon and the Festival Dinners button.

Food booths will be featured throughout the event, with everything from freshly grilled burgers, hot dogs, sausage and chicken to pierogi, pizza, French fries, pulled pork, funnel cakes, ice cream, cotton candy, snow cones, caramel apples, popcorn and more.

An indoor dessert café will feature cupcakes, pies, brownies, ice cream and cookies. Beverages include beer, wine, soft drinks and freshly squeezed lemonade.

Carnival game booths of all types will test luck and skills for a chance to win festival prizes. The Kids’ Zone tent will feature a variety of games to keep youngsters engaged.

Raffles will be featured every night of the festival, including multiple 50/50 drawings, instant bingo, gift basket raffle and a Wall of Wine raffle featuring 100 bottles. Indoor Bingo games will begin at 7:30 each night in St. Thomas More’s Family Life Center.

Also featured is a $20,000 cash raffle, with each ticket offering six chances to win. There will be five nightly $1,000 winners, June 21-25. The grand prize of $15,000 will be awarded June 26. A flea market runs in conjunction with the festival. Guests can wander through a gymnasium filled with an array of treasures and surprises. A pre-sale is scheduled for June 19, with $10 Super Early Bird admission from 8-9 a.m., $5 Early Bird admission from 9 to noon and free general admission from noon to 3 p.m. Purchase the Early Bird admissions through June 18 on the parish website.
