A business featuring thousands of square feet fitted with a series of trampolines may seem like an ideal place for children to work off some of their seemingly boundless energy.

They’re not the only ones.

“I don’t think it’s just for the kids,” Mandi Pryor said during the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Altitude Trampoline Park in Collier Township. “I know myself, and I would love to come in here and jump around, as well. So it’s for the kids at heart, too.”

In fact, the South West Communities Chamber of Commerce executive director and a few other adventurous adults headed straight for the main court of trampolines shortly after the ceremonial scissors did their work.

And from the looks of everything, they had quite a bit of fun springing up and down while demonstrating that, no, it’s not just for children.

Cory Chamberlain, one of Altitude’s general managers, agreed emphatically.

“It’s for all ages,” he said. “We’re going to include two hours of jump for adults, where they come out and actually give it a try on the trampolines.”

He and Cloey Castine, another general manager, wielded the chamber’s sizable cutting tool to slice a bright red ribbon in half. Joining them were Collier commissioners Daniel Styche, Mary Ann Cupples-Wisniowski and Deb Zymroz.

“Thank you all for being here, and we’re really excited to start this journey with everyone,” Castine told the well-wishers.

As part of the festivities, the general managers were presented with a congratulatory certificate from state Sen. Devlin Robinson, R-Bridgeville, by two of his staff members: Alicia McGhee and Alexis Trbovich, who subsequently tried out the trampolines, as well.

The ribbon cutting took place two days before the June 12 grand opening of Altitude, located behind Chartiers Valley Shopping Center. Guests were able to take a look at what the indoor venue has to offer, including a laser maze, kids’ court, games of trampoline dodgeball and a Ninja Course.

“It’s just like the ‘American Ninja Warriors’ that we all watch on TV,” Chamberlain said. “We love watching people and seeing if they can make it.”

And practically everything within Altitude’s 17,000 square feet of space does tend to burn off that energy.

“You get a good cardio workout here, no matter what,” Chamberlain said. “We have a fitness class that we’re going to incorporate, where we have people doing aerobics and light weight training on the trampolines.”

The business is working on scheduling plenty of programs and events, “and we’re looking for more options from the public to help us out,” he said.
