Upper St. Clair commissioners look to fill vacancy

The Upper St. Clair Board of Commissioners is seeking a new member.
Rex Waller, an at-large commissioner, has announced his resignation. He served on the board from 2014-17, as vice president for the final two of those years, and again starting in 2019.
Waller spoke with emotion to the commissioners and the public during Monday’s board meeting, expressing his gratitude to the community.
“I wish all of you continued success,” he said.
Daniel Paoly, the board’s current vice president, replied in kind.
“It’s been a true pleasure working with you,” he told Waller. “Don’t be a stranger. Come back and visit.”
Waller’s successor will serve through Jan. 2. A special election to fulfill the remainder of the term, which runs through the beginning of 2024, will be scheduled.
Any resident interested in being considered for appointment to the vacancy should send a résumé and letter of interest to Matthew R. Serakowski, Township Manager, Township of Upper St. Clair, 1820 McLaughlin Run Road, Upper St. Clair, P. 15241. The information must be received at his office no later than 4 p.m. March 16.
Qualifications for at-large commissioner are U.S. citizenship and residence in Upper St. Clair for a minimum of one year. The individual must be a qualified voter of the township and remain the same during the term of office.
