Mt. Lebanon’s LeboGreen invites community to join virtual Earth Day celebration

The Mt. Lebanon Environmental Team (LeboGreen) missed celebrating the 50th anniversary of Earth Day in 2020, but has a virtual celebration planned beginning at 12 p.m. April 22.
LeboGreen is creating a GIS Story Map that will connect visitors to the team’s YouTube Channel, where the entire community will be able to view educational and inspirational information provided by vendors, artists and nonprofit organizations.
The story map is divided into sustainability topic areas such as energy, water, storm water, waste, air quality, human health, wellness, local partners, art and music. The topic areas will link to various sustainability organizations’ websites and will feature a five- to 10-minute video introducing the group’s mission or vision, services and products.
There will be “activity tent” areas featuring longer, 20- to 30-minute educational videos or workshops relevant to sustainability topic areas. Also offered are composting and rain barrel workshops, which will include the bins and barrels. Registration will be required for the workshops directly through the Pennsylvania Resources Council, prc.org/programs/conservation-workshops.
LeboGreen is a group of Mt. Lebanon citizen volunteers devoted to conserving energy, water and waste in the community. The group works with residents, elected officials, institutions, businesses, nonprofits and the Mt. Lebanon Environmental Sustainability Board to educate the local community and to encourage the implementation of sustainable strategies.
The team responds to global and local economic, social and environmental challenges; to human health needs; and to reducing the effects of climate change on our community and on our neighbors.
