Pianist from Upper St. Clair earns honors

Upper St. Clair High School junior Jason Lu earned high honors in the Carmel Klavier Virtual International Piano Competition for Young Artists.

Jason finished first in the competition’s Contemporary Composers, Advanced B — age 16-18 — category and was a semifinalist in the Solo category. Video of his Contemporary Composers performance is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXtgtXSUNrY.

Lu is inow nvited to participate in the Costa Rica Piano Festival next summer.

In addition to the Carmel Klavier honors, he won first place in the local Pittsburgh International Piano Competition. He earned first place in the Solo Division, Youth B — age 16-18 — and first place in the Duet Division, Youth B, with Sora Hopp.
