Bethel Park students fare well on National Merit Scholarship qualifying test

Bethel Park High School seniors Lily Gaston and Oluwatoyosi Egbebi have been selected as semifinalists in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program through the National Merit Scholarship Corp.

They represent fewer than 1% of U.S. high school seniors and qualify to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $30 million to be offered in the spring.

Lily and Oluwatoyosi were among the highest-scoring participants in Pennsylvania, and out of more than 1.5 million juniors in more than 21,000 high schools nationwide who entered the program by taking the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which is the initial screening for program entrants. The nationwide pool of semifinalists includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.

Bethel Park students Keelan Donovan, Davis Jakel and Macy Mathias also earned recognition from the program.
