La Roche offers learning for adults over 50

2 min read

This spring adults 50 and older can rediscover the joy of learning without the pressure of assignments, grades or exams at La Roche University.

Beginning Jan. 23, the University’s Center for Lifelong Learning will launch a range of interactive courses in the subjects of science and technology, fitness, gardening, scripture, geography, film, writing and poetry, and more.

Offered as part of the Center’s membership-based program, Adventures in Lifelong Learning, the courses enable retirement-aged individuals of all backgrounds to expand their social networks through shared intellectual experiences.

Spring sessions run Jan. 23 to Feb. 24 and Mar. 13 to April 21. There will be no classes April 4-10. The complete schedule and course descriptions are available at laroche.edu/ALLcourses.

People can learn more about the various courses and memberships at a spring preview event set for 11 a.m. Jan. 13 in the Ryan Room of the Zappala Campus Center.

The Center for Lifelong Learning empowers learners of all ages by offering high-quality, flexible and adaptable programs to serve and meet the needs of Pittsburgh and its surrounding communities.

An individual Adventures in Lifelong Learning membership includes: noncredit, short-term courses (four to five weeks); the option to audit up to one LRU undergraduate course per term; community and social events; short educational tours; health and wellness activities; travel opportunities through La Roche’s Study Abroad office; and spiritual programming in partnership with La Roche’s founding congregation, the Sisters of Divine Providence.
