Upper St. Clair musicians named to all-state orchestra
Four Upper St. Clair High School students successfully auditioned to participate in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association All-State Orchestra.
Selected were seniors Sophie Chen, violin, and Joe Phillips, cello; and sophomore violinists Leona Chen, and Miriam Gutensohn.
The students receive music instruction from Christine Hestwood, Upper St. Clair High School’s orchestra conductor and strings teacher for Boyce and Fort Couch middle schools.
The Pennsylvania Music Educators Association’s 2022 All-State Festival and Annual In-Service Conference will be held April 6-9 at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in the Poconos.
PMEA is a nonprofit organization of more than 4,000 members, dedicated to promoting the musical development of all Pennsylvanians. The organization promotes and supports quality music education, learning and performance, as well as promoting and supporting music education in schools and communities.
