South West Meals on Wheels has received a $1,200 donation from the Rotary Club of Bridgeville-South Fayette.

Representatives of the nonprofit organization, a self-sustaining program that receives no governmental funding, visited the club’s Feb. 10 meeting to be presented with a ceremonial check.

Another donation, from Chartiers Valley School District, was of nonperishable food items “blizzard bags,” to be given to Meals on Wheels clients for use when the roads are too bad for their drivers to service them.

South West Meals on Wheels serves Beechview, Bridgeville, Carnegie, Cecil, Clinton, Collier Township, Crafton, Dormont, Greentree, Heidelberg, Imperial, Ingram, Mt Lebanon, Oakdale, Robinson Township, Scott Township, South Fayette, Upper St Clair and Westwood.

Clients receive nutritious homemade food that consists of a hot meal that includes a protein, starch and vegetable, plus a sandwich or cup of soup, salad, fruit, dessert and a quart of milk every Monday. Drivers always are needed. For more information, visit www.southwestmealsonwheels.org.

The Rotary Club of Bridgeville-South Fayette meets at 12 p.m. Thursdays at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 740 Washington Ave., Bridgeville.
