Local retirement community workers benefit from Employee Appreciation Fund

During the holidays, staff members at Baptist Homes in Mt. Lebanon and Providence Point in Scott Township received extra recognition for their work, in the total sum of $467,939.
The money came from the Employee Appreciation Fund, which was created as a way to recognize the efforts of Baptist Senior Family workers at both retirement communities throughout the year.
The dining servers, laundry workers and healthcare support staff members go above and beyond daily, and at the end of the year, each nonexecutive, noncontracted employee receives a portion of the gifts that have been given in their honor.
Providence Point and Baptist Homes residents, families and friends make giving a priority.
Since there are strict no-gift policies in place that prohibit personal gifts and tips to individual staff, the Providence Point residents formed a committee that promotes giving to the EAF.
Everything collected is fully distributed to all staff the first pay in December and makes the biggest impact during the holiday season. This year, full-time employees who worked the full year received a more than $1,300 gift for the good tidings they bring every day. Newer, part-time and as-needed employees received at least $329.
