Upper St. Clair student named student leader

Priyanka Palayekar of Upper St. Clair was among four high school students named Bank of America Student Leaders for 2022.
The three other honorees selected for this prestigious program that helps prepare students to enter the workforce through skill-building and leadership development were: North Allegheny’s Lina Fu and Lamees Subeir and Taylor Allderdice’s Abigail Feinstein.
As a part of this paid internship, the four students are working closely with the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh to support events and explore concepts in business development, exhibits, public programming, and retail sales. The students will also help build awareness of Museum Lab through a social media campaign which provides opportunities for older children to work with makers and experiment with cutting edge technology in the creation of art.
The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh is also a Bank of America anchor grant recipient – a grant created to support institutions and initiatives that “anchor” the local community and enable economic mobility, workforce development and education, and community revitalization.
The four student leaders in the Pittsburgh market are among 300 young people from across the country who were selected for the program. They were selected for their significant contribution to their communities as they have served as tutors, board members and volunteers for several local nonprofit organizations.
Begun in 2004, the Bank of America Student Leaders program recognizes community-focused juniors and seniors every year. These students participate in an eight-week paid internship, working closely with local nonprofits like the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh to develop leadership and workforce skills and participate in a week-long virtual leadership summit.
This program is part of Bank of America’s overall commitment to youth employment which is designed to help prepare a pipeline of diverse talent for success in the workforce.
