USC duplicates Academic World Quest win
Upper St. Clair High School won the statewide Academic WorldQuest competition, sponsored by the World Affairs Council of Harrisburg and advanced to the national championships for the second year in a row.
The team consisted of juniors Keshav Narasimhan, Daniel Wang, Ben Wasson and team captain Qadir Khan.
Pat Palazzolo, gifted education coordinator and sponsor of the high school’s World Affairs Club, coached the team.Academic WorldQuest, a program of World Affairs Councils of America, is fast-paced team competition for students that tests players’ knowledge of current international politics, geography, global economics, history and world cultures.
To prepare for the 10 rounds of multiple choice questions, students read articles and analyzed related data.
Among the topics included in the competition dealt with climate and migration, the end of U.S.-led intervention in Afghanistan, human-centered agenda to the future of work, the CDC and global health agenda, technology and democracy.
