Burning permitted in Peters Township

Peters Township Fire Department is reminding residents of the ordinance regulating all outside fires in the township.
Open burning is permitted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
No fire can contain garbage, leaves, leaf waste, grass clippings, any material made of or coated with rubber, plastic, or petroleum-based materials and must not contain any flammable or combustible liquids. This includes construction materials and lumber.
Recreational fires or “campfires” are allowed outside of the burning ordinance hours and are for the enjoyment of those in attendance. Recreational fires must be attended at all times and should have a water source nearby in order to control and maintain the fire.
The prohibited materials, as stated in the burning ordinance, are still applicable.
Residents may notify the department at 724-941-4176 when they are having a recreational burn.
