For the 63rd year, the Rotary Club of Bethel-St. Clair’s annual pancake festival was a “flippin success,” as 1,200 meals were served up last month at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair. Some 4,000 pancakes were made and served up with sausage, applesauce and all-you-can drink selections from juices to hot coffee, milk to hot tea.

The popular event benefits a variety of nonprofit organizations serving the community’s most vulnerable children, seniors, as well as those with developmental challenges. In addition to the breakfast proceeds, tickets were sold for Chinese auction items, silent auction and 50/50 raffle.

Among the event’s major sponsors were: AJ Buerkle Plumbing, Heating, & Air Conditioning; All-Clad Cookware; Bella’s Restaurant on Fort Couch; Benchmark Wealth Management; Bethel Bakery; Duck Donuts; Friendship Village of South Hills; Golf Sponsors — Chippewa Golf Club, Lindenwood Golf Course, & Rolling Green Golf Course; Mod Wash of Bridgeville; SHIM – South Hills Interfaith Movement; and Stifel – Dieckmann Wealth Management Group.

Some 132 people volunteered to assist, including 34 Rotary members, spouses, and friends. The remaining volunteers included individuals representing the organizations such as Boy Scout Troop 366; Bethel Park High School Rotary Interact Club; Upper St. Clair High School Rotary Interact Club; SHIM – South Hills Interfaith Movement; Resurrection Parish – Appalachia Mission; John McMillan Presbyterian Church; Prime Time Adult Care; Meals on Wheels – Bethel Park; AJ Buerkle Plumbing, Heating, & Air Conditioning; Bishop Canevin High School; and St. Clair Hospital.
