Four advance to PMEA Region 1 Band

Four Upper St. Clair High School musicians were selected through competitive audition to participate in the PMEA Region 1 Band. Musicians include senior Ben Wasson, trombone; as well as juniors Isaac Bernstein, percussion; Gabe Pacella, trumpet; and Lauren Tenney, clarinet.

The students qualified by their performances at the PMEA District 1 West Band Festival, which was held Feb. 9-11 at Trinity High School.

The Region 1 Band Festival is set for March 23-25 at Butler Intermediate High School. Christopher Cicconi, director of bands and associate professor of music education at Towson University, will serve as guest conductor.

Upper St. Clair High School students are led by Dr. John Seybert, performing arts curriculum leader and director of high school bands.

PMEA District 1 includes school districts from Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties. PMEA Region 1 is comprised of PMEA District 1 and District 5, which includes Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties.

PMEA is a statewide nonprofit organization of more than 4,500 members, dedicated to promoting the musical development of all Pennsylvanians. The organization promotes and supports quality music education, learning and performance as well as promoting and supporting music education in schools and communities. PMEA is affiliated with The National Association for Music Education.
