Two Washington men arrested in Bethel Park thefts
Bethel Park police arrested two Washington men accused of breaking into vehicles last week.
Devin Antonio Fowler, 19, and Blake Michael Buchanan, 18, each face charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called to Greenwald Road at about 1:45 a.m. March 21 after a resident reported a man dressed in black was attempting to enter his locked vehicle. Unable to get inside the vehicle, the man left.
Police found Fowler walking in a wooded area and took him into custody. He was in possession of two airsoft pistols, brass knuckles, ammunition, cash, knives and cellphone chargers.
According to the complaint, everything except the airsoft guns and brass knuckles had been stolen from unlocked vehicles.
Fowler allegedly told police that he and Buchanan traveled to Bethel Park with the intention of stealing from cars, court documents state.
Buchanan turned himself in to Bethel Park police later that day. He told police that Fowler had asked him for a ride to steal from vehicles, and that he agreed and followed Fowler’s directions to Bethel Park.
According to the complaint, police recovered items that Buchanan is accused of stealing, including a portable radio, sunglasses, a car jump kit, $7, and headache medicine.
District Judge Daniel Butler released Fowler and Buchanan on their own recognizance. Fowler is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. March 30, and Buchanan’s hearing is set for 1 p.m. April 6.
