Coen Markets to build new gas station in Bethel Park

Coen Markets is preparing to start construction on a new location in Bethel Park.
The Canonsburg-based company is aiming to break ground at the intersection of Library Road and South Park, Baptist and Corrigan drives before the end of summer, according to Adam Lazenga, director of real estate and construction for Coen. The location was previously home to a GetGo.
“GetGo was operating under a long-term lease. They couldn’t come to an agreement to extend that lease. We were presented with the opportunity to put a bid in,” Lazenga said.
Lazenga, who was born in Bethel Park and graduated from high school in 2012, remembers the GetGo being a fixture at the intersection.
“When we were presented with the opportunity, I sat back and laughed a bit. I frankly thought they owned the property my whole life. It was a wonderful surprise,” Lazenga said.
Lazenga thinks the Coen gas station will be a welcome addition to the busy intersection.
“We’re excited to bring our family operation to Bethel,” Lazenga said. “I think people will be pleasantly surprised.”
Bethel Park Councilman Joe Consolmagno spoke highly of Coen as a business.
“Coen is a nice group of people and a great organization,” Consolmagno said. “It’s a win-win for the community of Bethel Park and them. It will be a plus.”
Lazenga said they have had a good experience working with township officials, and that he hopes the new gas station will open by the end of the year.
“We don’t want to see that property sit vacant any longer than it needs to be,” Lazenga said.
