Arjun Kairi of Upper St. Clair placed first in his division in the statewide 2023 School Bus Safety Poster Contest, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The seventh grader at Fort Couch Middle School was recognized Oct. 25 in Harrisburg.

PennDOT selected first, second and third place posters for each of its five divisions: grades K-2, grades 3-5, grades 6-8, special education, and computer-aided drawing.

The five first-place posters from the state-level competition advanced to the national competition. This year’s national winning poster was from a student in Coon Rapids, Minn.

The theme for the 2023-24 National School Bus Safety Week poster contest is Driving Safely Into the Future. Entries must be submitted to PennDOT by Wednesday, April 17, 2024.

National School Bus Safety Week is held during the third full week in October each year.
