Archery deer hunt has begun in Bethel Park parks

1 min read

Seven archers began deer hunting in Bethel Park’s municipal parks.

Started on Sept. 16, the hunt will continue through January with a short break in late November.

The program is through Suburban Wildlife Management Solutions.

Archery hunting is not permitted on Sundays (except dates noted). Specific dates include through Nov. 11; Sunday, Nov. 12; Nov. 13-18; Sunday, Nov. 19; Nov. 20-24; and Dec. 26 to Jan. 27, 2024.

Volunteer archers have undergone an application background process, proficiency testing, and are licensed and authorized for this activity.

Since 2018, there’s been a 40% increase in the number of vehicle-related deer incidents in Bethel Park. Therefore, new deer management measures following Pennsylvania Commission Guidelines were implemented in February to better manage the herd and reduce the number of deer-related vehicle accidents in the community.
