Bradyn Roberts, a senior at South Fayette High School, has dabbled in various businesses, with his latest being Front9, featuring golf apparel.

At a very young age, Bradyn Roberts realized he had a knack for business.

The South Fayette senior has dabbled in business opportunities such as ice cream, hydro-dipped items, phone cases and stickers.

“I watched a lot of Shark Tank growing up,” Roberts said. “The older I got, the more intelligent that I got, and I had more time on my hands, I started my businesses from there. I fell in love with marketing, advertising, building websites and having fun with arts and crafts.”

His latest venture is called Front9, which features original unisex golf clothing designed for public-course players seeking style without the country-club look.

“I’m just an average golfer, like a lot of people,” Roberts explained. “I thought, ‘I like golf and I like to play golf, why don’t I make a brand for public golfers that’s not really country-club wear?’ I (call it) Front9 because I believe I play better with the front nine holes then the back nine holes.

“I always like to start businesses. I like to try new things like new industries. This year, it’s the clothing industry.”

Front9’s products include polos, beanies, hats, hoodies and quarter zips.

Using an online print-on-demand (POD) platform, Roberts is able to maintain a website for the products, which he designs. He handles all marketing and media and earns monthly payouts based on sales. The POD store handles production, shipping and returns.

“I design the products with the help of AI, and my Print on Design service will make it at the warehouse,” Roberts said.

Roberts, 18, started his first business when he was in middle school at the age of 12, and for the most part they have done well, turning a profit.

Eventually, each would have to stop as he focused his attention on his athletic endeavors as a member of the South Fayette football and baseball teams.

“This one is still going since I don’t have any sports until the summer,” Roberts said. “I think I can keep it going in the summer because I make all of my products beforehand. We’re up in profit right now in this business because with Print On Demand, it doesn’t cost me anything to make (products). This business is pretty solid. We’ve only been up for about a month and two weeks and we have about 20 to 23 orders already.”

After graduation in June, Roberts plans to attend West Virginia University, where he intends to study business.

“I’m still torn if I want to do marketing or just general business management,” he said.

What he is certain of is that he will minor in communications.

“I believe everyone who goes into business should take a communications class because communicating is the No. 1 thing in business in being a salesperson,” Roberts said.

He hopes to take his Front9 business to college.

Roberts hopes to someday own a business.

“My dream job is to be my own boss and have my own business,” he said.
