Meals on Wheels opens new location in Peters Township
Meals on Wheels of Peters Township, the nonprofit program delivering meals to senior citizens, opened its new location Aug. 28 inside the Donaldson’s Crossroads shopping center.
During three weeks of renovations of the former Sirena Taco restaurant in the northern end of the shopping center, the program temporarily operated out of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Canonsburg, which offered space so the program did not have to close down temporarily.
This relocation was necessary because Peters Township decided not to renew the program’s lease for the space above the township’s fire department that Meals on Wheels had occupied since 2008, the organization said. Meals on Wheels, which helps seniors living in Eighty Four, Finleyville, Houston, Canonsburg, Cecil Township, Bridgeville, South Fayette and parts of Upper St. Clair and Bethel Park, spent more than a year searching for a suitable new location.
For information on volunteer opportunities or to sign up for meal service, call 724-969-1000 or stop by the kitchen any weekday morning. Visitors should enter through the glass doors under the Little Gym sign and walk to the back of the atrium.
