Trick-or-treaters trek through sunny 70s in Peters Township
through sun and 70s
Trekking through sunshine and 70-plus degrees seemed to suit the crowd of youngsters and their parents who attended the Oct. 21 Trick-or-Treat Trail, leading up the hill fro the Peters Township Community Recreation Center. Representatives of community groups and businesses were on hand to distribute goodies to costumed kids.
Some adults donned disguises, too, including five staff members from the MedExpress Urgent Care centers in Peters and Upper St. Clair.
“MedExpress definitely likes to be involved with the community and support it any way that we can,” center manager McCall Forgie said. “The thing we all wanted to dress up as were witches, so we ran with it. We’re the witches from ‘Hocus Pocus.'”
Portraying the 1993 film’s Sanderson sisters involved putting on a few more layers of makeup and clothing than usual.
“It’s a little warm,” Forgie acknowledged, “but that’s better than rain and cold. So we’re happy with that.”
Organizers were happy with the turnout, as Michele Harmel, Peters Township parks and recreation director, reported that 322 people signed up for the second annual Trick-or-Treat Trail. Last year’s initial event drew about 180, braving the cold and rain that usually is familiar for October.
