While Bethel Park received a first-round bye in the WPIAL Class 6-A baseball playoffs, three other area teams were scheduled to play their May 15 openers, weather permitting.

Upper St. Clair (12-6), Peters Township (11-9) and Mt. Lebanon (9-11) qualified for the post-season behind the Hawks. USC and Lebo were to play a doubleheader at North Allegheny vs. Butler (11-6) and Plum (15-4) respectively. The Indians were to face Pin-Richland (13-6) at Boyce-Mayview Park.

In Quad-A, South Fayette (14-5) received a first-round bye. The Lions are seeded third in the tournament after defending champion Riverside (16-1) and Knoch (14-3).

The girls’ softball playoff games for May 14 were postponed to May 16. Thus Seton LaSalle (13-2) will play Beth-Center (3-12) at 3 p.m. at Baldwin. The Rebels are the No. 3 seed behind defending champion, Frazier (13-5), and Chartiers-Houston (14-2).

Bethel Park (10-5), Mt. Lebanon (7-8) and Peters Township (9-8) competed in the Class 6-A playoffs. First-round games were to be played May 15 weather permitting.

Three-time champion Hempfield (17-3), Baldwin (10-4) and Latrobe (10-3) are the top three seeds in the division. They received opening-round byes.
