A GoFundMe page has been started to help defray some costs for John-Henry Krueger and his family to journey to Pyeongchang, South Korea for the 2018 Winter Olympics.

The speedskater from Peters Township will represent the United States in four events: the 500-, 1,000- and 1,500-meter races as well as the 5,000-meter relay.

The 22-year-old son of Bryan and Heidi Krueger started skating as a youth at the Mt. Lebanon Ice Rink but moved to Salt Lake City at age 16 to train and compete. He has lived in Korea for two years and has been training in the Netherlands for the past 10 months in preparation for his Olympic run. While Krueger receives a stipend from the USOC, his overseas training expenses, including food and rent, exceeded $62,000 last year alone.
