Mike Deitrick has joined the Waynesburg University football coaching staff. The Upper St. Clair graduate will serve as an offensive line coach and the strength & conditioning coordinator for the Yellow Jackets.

Deitrick comes to Waynesburg after building a résumé in all three NCAA divisions as a player and coach. He spent the past two seasons as a running backs coach and recruiting coordinator with Duquesne University. While with the Dukes, he worked with AJ Hines, who was a first-team All-American in 2018 after running for 1,563 yards and 15 touchdowns on 266 carries.

Prior to Duquesne, Deitrick commenced his coaching career by spending two seasons, 2015 and 2016, as an assistant at Allegheny College. There, he worked with the tight ends, running backs and special teams. He also worked as the team’s video coordinator, breaking down film for practice and games while prepping weekly scouting reports. He also handled many social media duties and was responsible for all film duties on the offensive side of the ball.

As a player, Deitrick competed at Clarion University. The four-year starter at tight end finished with 77 career catches and seven touchdowns. A team captain his senior season, Deitrick participated in the 2014 National Bowl All-Star Game in Miami, Fla. He was the leading receiver in that game.

Deitrick, who earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration with a minor in sports management at Clarion, earned three varsity letters at USC. The former Panther earned all-conference honors as a player.
