Peters Township golfers have strong showing across state

Peters Township improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in Section 7-AAA boys golf with a 190-225 victory over Canon-McMillan.

On the par-36 Red Course at Valley Brook Country Club, Christian Schreiber and Andrew Poon led the way. Both shot scores of 37.

Ellian Ascencio and Nick Luniewski each fired 38s while Mason Tackacs finished with a 40.

Jude O’Bryan led the Big Macs with a 38. Colin McKinney, Max Lockerbie, Jamie Rush and Christian Banda rounded out C-M’s scoring.

The Big Macs slipped to 0-2 in the section.

In follow-up action, the Indians finished runner-up to Manheim in the Central Dauphin Invitational held at Dauphin Highlands Golf Club. The event, played from the blue tees on the 6,700-yard, par-72 course, featured 17 teams and 101 players from across the state.

PT’s Red squad finished one stroke off the winners, 302-301. The PT White team finished fifth overall with a 320 score.

Ascencio finished fourth overall with a one-over 73 and Schreiber followed in fifth position with a 74.

Also in the Top 20 were Poon, who tied for seventh with a 75; Dustin Blewies and Nick Wetzel, tied for 13th with 78s; and Will Burkhardt, 19th with a 79. Luniewski added an 80 for the Red, which featured Ascencio, Schreiber and Poon. Logan Shaw shot an 85 to complete the scoring for the White team.
