Peters Township wins five tournaments

Peters Township dominated the travel baseball season by capturing five championships in the tournaments in which it competed. The 7A travel team compiled a 24-0 record.

The team swept the Pine-Richland A club, 6-1 and 7-2, and defeated Ingomar, 8-4, and P-R B, 6-0, to reach the finals in the Pine-Richland tournament. In extra innings, Peters Township defeated its B club, 7-6, to capture the title.

In winning the PT tournament, the team against defeated the PT B unit in the opener, 16-0, and in the championship, 13-9. In between, PT A beat Baldwin, 13-1, Upper St. Clair, 19-6, and Mt. Lebanon with back-to-back wins of 14-2, and 19-8.

PT also claimed titles in tournaments held at Mt. Lebanon, Montour and USC, dispatching Central, 13-8, Montour, 16-5, and USC to win the events’ respective titles.

Teams from Lebo, BP, Pine-Richland, Montour, USC and Ingomar competed in the tournaments with PT winning decisive victories in 13 games, including three by shutouts. Only one game went into extra innings.

John Snyder managed the team. His assistant coaches included:

Brian Celedonia, Brian Scheiring, Mark Wicker, Ryan McCartney, Graham McDonough and Matt Weller.
