Alex Puhl was honored as one of the Western Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association’s Players of the Week after helping Peters Township post a 3-0 record. The Indians beat Moon, 3-0, Upper St. Clair, 3-1, and Thomas Jefferson, 3-1.

The 6-8 right side hitter racked up 26 kills, including 12 against the Panthers. The senior also had five service aces.

“Alex as a big part of us winning a highly contested matchup against USC,” said PT coach Nate Swauger. “He plays all the way around for us and can attack the opposing team from both the front and back row.”

Puhl’s play had Peters Township inching its way into the rankings among Class AAA programs. In most recent action, the Indians dropped a non-section match to Seton LaSalle, 3-1, but toppled Central Catholic in three games.

North Allegheny holds the top slot in Class AAA followed by Norwin and Bethel Park.

In Class AA, Seton LaSalle is ranked No. 2 behind Derry. The Rebels are ranked ninth statewide by Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association.

Luke Manion is among the Rebels’ top players. The junior setter earned Player of the Week honors for the first week of the season. He is a Bethel Park resident.
