Alex Minton of Bethel Park is making the most of his final season of college football. The Denison University senior ranks among the Top 5 rushers in the NCAA Division III.

Heading into this past weekend’s fray against Ohio Wesleyan, the 5-10, 212-pound running back had 3,660 career rushing yards, leaving him 66 shy of moving into the school’s third top spot all-time.

Minton had 1,291 rushing yards so far this season, which is fourth-most in school history. His 1,368 yards last year ranks third.

Minton also set the school record for rushing career touchdowns with his 41st score in the Nov. 9 setback, 19-10, against Ohio Wesleyan at Selby Stadium. His two-yard tote put the Big Red ahead, 7-0. In the loss, Minton rushed for a career-best 237 yards on 37 carries.

Twice, back-to-back, Minton earned North Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week laurels this season. He merited the distinction for the fourth time in his career.

Minton is only the second player in Dennison history to post three consecutive 1,000-yard rushing season. In 2018, he led the conference in rushing with 1,368 yards. He earned third-team All-North regional and first-team All-NCAC honors. In 2017, he rushed for 1,001 yards. He earned second-team All-NCAC accolades.

As a senior at Bethel Park High School, Minton rushed for 1,400 yards and 15 touchdowns. He gained all-conference and All-Almanac awards as well as a scholarship to Drake University. However, he later transferred to Denison.

The son of Sharon and Paul Minton is a Biology major.
