Bethel Park native earns honor

Emma Bruno of Bethel Park was named to the 2018 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team. Bruno was the goalkeeper for the Baldwin Wallace University’s women’s soccer team.

In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, appeared in at least one varsity match and have at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

The daughter of Tony Bruno and Lynn Starcevic is a marketing major. She carries a 3.796 GPA. This was her third consecutive All-OAC academic award.

Academically, Bruno is a Dean’s List student, a Jacket Scholar, a member of the Honors Program and a member of the Digital Marketing Clinic.

A three-time OAC Defensive Player of the Week, Bruno has appeared in 56 games and has recorded 32 victories, 19 shutouts and 1.38 goals against average.

During her scholastic years, Bruno was a member of a U.S. National Club championship team in 2013 and on a national finalist squad in 2015. She was a three-time DECA national qualifier and named to the DECA state champion. She also belonged to the National Honor Society and was a member of the Academic Mentor Club.
