Mattila leads synchronized swimmers

Grace Mattila from Bethel Park was a double winner during the USA Artistic Swimming East Zone Virtual Meet held recently.

Representing Pittsburgh Synchronized Swimming, Mattilia captured first in solo routine in the 10U age division.

She also combined with Adelyn Guenther, also of Bethel Park, for first place as a duet.

Guenther placed second in solo routine. She also teamed up with Ava Arnold, Avry Miller, Charlotte Norton and Alea Taylor for fourth place in the 13-15 team routine. Individually, Guenther took third in figures and second in land skills.

Arnold supplied sixth-place showings in land skills and solo routines. Taylor finished fourth in land skills.

Leah Keen of Mt. Lebanon finished third in 13-15 solo routines.

Thirteen teams from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania competed with Pittsburgh Synchronized Swimming members submitting 21 entries in Land Skills, Figures and Routines events.

Ten of the entries placed first through sixth.

Deb Hazlett of Mt. Lebanon along with Courtly Schmarlzried from Peters Township, Sara Shulgach of Pittsburgh and Lebo’s Natalie Cox coach the Pittsburgh synchronized swimmers.
