Mt. Lebanon to host sectional

Mt. Lebanon defeated Peters Township, 51-30, to finish undefeated in Section 2B wrestling competition.
The victory also earned the Blue Devils the opportunity to host the section team championships.
The sectional pits the Blue Devils against Thomas Jefferson at 6 p.m. Jan. 22 while Connellsville takes on Peters Township. Winners advance to the finals set for 7:15 p.m. The consolation match will also be held at this time.
In the win against the Indians, brothers Mac Stout at 170 pounds and Luke Stout at 220 pounds picked up pins as did Luke Iovino (152), Ben Streiff (285), Fayzullo Solohiddinov (160) and Darvish Kapitonov (138).
Donovan McMillon (182), Richard Meyers (106), Jackson Spiteri (113), and Bryce Wilkes (126) had six-point wins for Peters.
Five teams advance to the team tournament, which is scheduled to start Jan. 27 after the WPIAL steering committee meets to set the pairings.
Bethel Park, which picked up a critical win against Ringgold, 45-33, advances to battle for that fifth playoff spot. The Black Hawks will host West Mifflin at 7 p.m. Jan. 22.
In the Black Hawks’ win against the Rams, Tyler Thimons (220), Bryce Bench (120), Michael Glasser (126), Parker Loera (138), Brandon Hartman (170), Riley O’Mara (182) and Luke Montgomery (195) all registered falls.
Chartiers Valley defeated Montour, 45-29, and earned a berth in the Section 4 tournament. The Colts will battle West Allegheny at 7 p.m. Jan. 22.
Shabur Karimov (160) and Murat Zaynullaev (182) won by pins while Cody Trout (132), Dylan Evans (138), Christopher Beatty (145) and Donovan O’Malley (195) won with decisions for the Colts.
The Section 4 tournament at Waynesburg pits the host Red Raiders against South Fayette while Canon-McMillan battles Trinity at 6 p.m. Finals are scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
The WPIAL team tournament will conclude with the championships set for Feb. 1.
The PIAA team tournament runs from Feb. 6-8 at the Giant Center in Hershey.
