Sophia Donati of Mt. Lebanon was one of 46 Bucknell University swim team members placed on the 2020 Patriot League academic honor roll.

To qualify for the list, student-athletes must have achieved a minimum 3.20 grade point average during the semester in which their team competed. Student-athletes who took all of their classes as pass/fail because of the COVID-19 public health threat necessitating a shift to online education could qualify for the honor roll with a GPA of at least 3.20 from the preceding fall semester.

Donati was a member of six Bison relay teams that posted top-10 times. She scored three points at the Patriot League Championships behind a 14th-place effort in the 200 freestyle. She was a member of the third-place 800 freestyle, fifth-place 200 freestyle, fifth-place 400 freestyle and sixth-place 200 medley relay teams. She also competed in the 50- and 100-free races.

At the ECAC Championships, she finished 10th in the 200 free and 12th in the 100. Donati also was a member of the gold-medal 400 free and the bronze-medal 200 medley relay teams.

Donati helped Mt. Lebanon win three section titles and two WPIAL runner-up team trophies. The high school All-American was a WPIAL individual champion as well as a state gold-medalist in the 200-medley relay. She graduated with a school record in the 500 freestyle. She also helped set new standards in three relay events, including a WPIAL record in the 400 free.

The Mt. Lebanon Aqua Club member’s father, Tom, swam at Westminster College and her mother, Victoria, competed for the University of Pittsburgh.
