Peters Township tennis player is honored

Venetia native Nate Wang earned 2020 NCAA Division III Academic All-District At-Large First Team recognition as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The team acknowledges the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performance in athletic competition and in the classroom.
Wang served as the top player for the men’s tennis program since his arrival at Washington & Jefferson College.
In singles play, he has compiled a 33-5 overall record, which includes a 17-1 mark in PAC matches. In doubles play, the junior has posted a 29-10 overall record, which includes a 16-3 mark in PAC matches.
The Peters Township High School product was named Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Year and received PAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors following his sophomore season. He was named to the All-PAC First Team team in singles and doubles after 2019. Wang is a five-time PAC Player of the Week and a two-time PAC Rookie of the Week.
Wang is a biochemistry major with a German minor. He maintains a 3.88 cumulative GPA. He is a two-time member of the PAC spring academic Honor Roll. He has been a team captain for the program since his sophomore season.
Wang was one of 11 student-athletes selected to the Academic All-District 4 list, which is comprised of NCAA Division III schools in Pennsylvania.
First-team honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 16-19.
