Former Peters Township swimmer graduates from Naval Academy

Sebastian Yocca of McMurray graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a degree in chemistry. He has been commissioned as an ensign in the U.S. Navy and selected to join the submarine service.

In the fall, Yocca will attend Purdue University and pursue a master’s degree in chemical engineering.

During his time at the Naval Academy, Yocca spent four months in Brest, France, studying at Ecole Navale. Yocca also traveled to Hawaii, Australia, the Philippines and Japan.

Yocca is a Peters Township High School product where he was a two-sport standout and team captain his senior year.

In swimming, the four-year letterman earned All-America honors and was a USA representative for Allegheny Mountain Swimming.

Yocca was a six-time WPIAL medalist and PIAA medalist. He also lettered for three years in tennis. Yocca also was a Waldie/Shaeffer Award finalist.
