Mt. Lebanon swim center closed for summer

By Eleanor Bailey almanac Sports Editor ebailey@thealmanac.Net 1 min read

The Mt. Lebanon outdoor pool swim center will not open this summer.

In a statement issued on recreation, the Mt. Lebanon Commissioners said it “was not an easy decision” to shutter the facility. “We recognize the importance of the pool to our community.”

The decision took into account the health risks, increased costs and other consequences of the operation of the municipal pool, along with a thorough review of reopening plans from the recreation department and outside associations.

The commissioners reviewed concepts for scheduling, admissions and pricing to address the various logistical and safety issues, and projected the revenues and increased costs associated with those plans.

Mt. Lebanon is actively reviewing the reopening of other public facilities, recreation programs and other services currently closed due to the COVID-19 health crisis.
