Jim McVay and the Bethel Park High School Hockey Boosters club have mutually parted ways.

During his 24-year tenure, McVay coached the Black Hawks to five state championships, six Penguins Cups and one national title.

BP finished 8-10 last year and lost to North Allegheny in the first round of the PIHL playoffs.

“I wish nothing but the best for the players and the organization,” said McVay. “My only desire, more than wins and losses, was to develop young men and to teach them to give back to the community.”

Mike Schall, who has served as McVay’s assistant coach since 2009, is expected to be appointed head coach, according to McVay.

Schall is a former Seneca Valley player and coach, and is an elementary school teacher in Bethel Park School District.

The puck drops on the 2020-21 season Oct. 3 when the Black Hawks face rival Upper St. Clair.
