McMurray native Weyrich named PAC rookie of the week

Taylor Weyrich of McMurray was named the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Women’s Swimming & Diving Rookie of the Week.
The Washington & Jefferson College freshman has won all four of her individual events in her debut season.
Against Grove City, Weyrich was first in the 1- and 3-meter diving events, posting scored of 256.73 and 232.80. Her marks ranked first in the conference on the 1-meter and and second in the 3-meter for six dives.
Nationally, Weyrich is slotted seventh in Division III on the 1-meter board and 11th on the 3-meter board.
A decorated gymnast, Weyrich transformed into a champion diver while attending Seton LaSalle. She was the Observer-Reporter and The Almanac MVP in 2020 for diving. She was the WPIAL runner-up in 2020 and a fourth-place finisher in 2019, her first season of competitive diving.
Weyrich also was a two-time PIAA qualifier and an all-state performer with a seventh-place showing in 2019. The 2020 championships were canceled because of the COVID-19 crisis.
Weyrich is majoring in early education at W&J. She is the daughter of Dr. Timothy and Carolyn Weyrich,
After concluding its regular season this weekend, the Presidents will compete in the PAC championships from March 2-5.
