Duquesne University has added David Gray to its women’s soccer coaching staff. He will be an assistant to head coach Al Alvine.

Gray previously served as an assistant with the Dukes in 2013 and 2014. He returns to the Bluff after a successful runs as the girls soccer coach at Upper St. Clair High School.

“We are beyond excited to welcome Dave back to the Bluff,” Alvine said. “His experience, knowledge and ability will make him a tremendous asset to our program. Dave’s passion for the game and for teaching are evident from the first moment you speak to him. We are fortunate to add him to the Duquesne community.”

In between stints at Duquesne, Gray served at USC. He amassed more than 200 wins during two tenures on the Panthers’ sidelines. He guided the Panthers to a WPIAL title in 2011 and a PIAA championship in 2015.

Gray has also served as a youth coach with Century United since 2004 and assumed the role of director of coaching in 2017. In addition, he was an assistant coach with the Fort Pitt Regiment of the National Premier Soccer League from 2014-18.

Gray has a USSF “A” license, a USSF National Goalkeeping License and a NSCAA Goalkeeping Diploma.

“I’m thrilled to have the chance to return to Duquesne and work with coach Alvine again,” Gray said. “I had a great experience the first time with the team, the school and the people at Duquesne. I can’t wait to get back on the field and work in the A-10 again. I’m looking forward to the opportunity.”
