As WPIAL singles champion, South Fayette's Jacob Patterson advanced to the PIAA Class 3A tournament. The junior won one match before being eliminated by eventual runner-up David Marmalat from Northeast.

Jacob Patterson’s trip to Hershey over the Memorial Day weekend was short and sweet.

After winning his first match, the South Fayette junior was eliminated from the PIAA Class 3A tennis tournament.

Patterson opened competition with a 7-5, 6-1 victory against Justin Minerva from Lower Merion. He lost to David Marmalat from Northeast, 6-3, 6-2, in the quarterfinals.

Marmalat advanced to the finals. The junior finished runner-up, falling to Lower Merion’s Vikas Miller, 7-5, 6-1, in the championship match.

Patterson won a section title and a WPIAL singles championship during the 2021 season.
