Weyrich named All-America in diving
Taylor Weyrich of McMurray has been selected as a 2020-21 Division III All-American in one-Meter diving by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches of America (CSCAA). She is a Washington & Jefferson College freshman and a Seton LaSalle product.
Selection procedures were adjusted for the season because of the cancellation of respective national championships. Swimming selections were made on the basis of verified performances in competition submitted by their respective coaches. Division III diving selections were conducted via a video evaluation of performances from the 2020-21 academic year.
Weyrich was named 2020-21 Presidents’ Athletic Conference women’s Diver of the Year in addition to earning all-conference first-team honors.
Weyrich won the PAC championship in the one-meter dive with 407.80 points. She added a third-place showing in the three-meter dive with 359.95 points. Her team score of 36 points led the Presidents at PACs.
Weyrich is the first female diver from W&J to earn All-America honors since Bethany Haver did so in 2012.
“Taylor is an exceptionally driven student-athlete who strives for perfection on the boards and in the classroom. Our team, coaching staff and alumni are so proud of Taylor earning All-America status for her accomplishments this past season,” said head coach Matt Rochna.
“Her hard-work and determination to be her absolute best has no doubt led her to this achievement. She is thoroughly deserving of this honor and we know more great things are still to come. We can’t wait to see where her hard work and dedication takes her in the future.”
