Dylan Evans of Scott Township advanced to the PIAA wrestling championships for the second time in his scholastic career.

A Chartiers Valley sophomore, Evans reached the podium in 2020. He placed eighth in the 126-pound weight class and finished with a 36-11 record as a freshman.

This winter, Evans was 31-7 heading into the state finals held March 12-13 at the Giant Center in Hershey.

Evans qualified for the state meet by finishing four in the 138-pound weight class during the Super Regional held March 7 at Altoona High School.

Evans used a tiebreaker to beat Josh Miller from Central Dauphin 4-2 in his opening match.

After dropping a 9-1 major decision to Finn Solomon from Franklin Regional, Evans recovered to beat Shippensburg’s Dominic Frontino, 5-3.

In the consolation bout, Evans lost to Chandler Ho from Dubois 6-3 to finish fourth overall.

“Dylan’s hard work and commitment to excellence is a reflection of the goals and mission of the entire wrestling program and district’s goals for every CV student-athlete,” said CV wrestling coach Bill Evans, who is Dylan’s father. “We couldn’t be more proud of him and look forward to watching him compete and represent our district in the toughest high school state tournament in the country.”
