Upper St. Clair wins championship

The Upper St. Clair eight-grade girls basketball team captured the middle school state title March 21 in State College. After a 72-11 win over Indiana and a 49-12 victory over Montgomery in the preliminary rounds, the Panthers defeated Pikes Peak 57-23 to advance to the finals where they beat Mt Lebanon 38-34 for the championship. Since 2018 when the girls came together in 5th grade, they have accrued a 131-3 record that has featured six league titles and 11 tournament championships.
