Mt. Lebanon eliminates Peters Township in girls lacrosse

Top-seeded Mt. Lebanon ended Peters Township’s season when the Blue Devils defeated the Indians, 16-7, in the quarterfinals of the WPIAL Class AAA girls lacrosse playoffs.

Cassidy King scored four goals and collected an assist for Peters Township.

Delaney Kern, Gabby Tom and Karson Martin each contributed a goal for the Indians. Tom, Martin and King had assists.

Regan Murdoch led Lebo with six goals. She scored her 100th career goal to make it 4-1 early in the contest.

Megan Cain followed with four goals while Addie Murdoch and Tegan Hoover provided two goals each.

Mt. Lebanon’s Addie Donalson excelled in goal, making as many as four critical saves in the contest.

With the win, the Blue Devils advanced to the semifinals May 24 where they were scheduled to face Sewickley Academy, a 20-7 winner over Bethel Park.

The other semifinal match-up pits Upper St. Clair against Shady Side Academy. The Panthers advanced to the final four with an 11-8 victory against Pine-Richland.

Haley Newton scored six goals for the Panthers, who jumped off to a 6-0 lead and held on to beat the Rams.

USC’s Bri Lang and Libby Eannarino each scored twice, while Deirde Mannix provided another goal.

The WPIAL championships will be held May 26 at Robert Morris University.

Class AA

South Fayette succumbed to Aquinas Academy, 13-9

South Fayette’s Amelia Lazzini had a hat trick while Caroline Fleming provided two goals. Morgan Young, Kaitln Stringert and Madison Spruit provided the other goals for the Lions, who finished 7-7 overall.

Franklin Regional eliminated Seton LaSalle, 8-6, and Chartiers Valley defeated Oakland Catholic, 15-2, in other first-round playoff action.
