Past, future, and present wrestling greats will take to the mats Aug. 6 at Keystone Oaks High School to support the sport and remember individuals who gave their lives to the activity.

The event will feature 30 matches, vendors, food and clinics.

The day begins at noon with a free youth clinic in the school’s wrestling room.

At 2 p.m. there will be open floor training and a 30-minute high school and college practice.

At 2:30 p.m. a college recruitment fair and vendor showcase will be held in the main gym. Colleges will share admissions and athletic information while vendors will market their apparel and businesses.

The Legends Night Matches begin with opening remarks at 4 p.m.

In addition to youth, girls, junior, high school, college and legends bouts, there will be basket raffles and a 50/50 during the competition.

All the funding will go to support youth wrestling and two local Pittsburgh families who have experienced great loss this past year.

At age 38, Teddy Mangan passed away Dec. 17, 2021 after losing his battle with cancer. Mangan was a Keystone Oaks and Thiel College wrestling alumni. A two-time PAC champion at 157 pounds in college, he and his wife, Lindsay, had two children, Aria and Mason.

Shawn and Edward ‘Frenchy’ DesLauriers were Burrell wrestling legends.

At 70, Ed died from Osteomyelitis, a bone infection, on Dec. 16, 2021. Twenty-one days later on Jan. 5, his son, Shawn, 53, died of complications from COVID-19.
