BP, PT eliminated in WPIAL team wrestling tournament

Bethel Park and Peters Township were eliminated in the first round of the WPIAL Class AAA team wrestling tournament.

The Indians dropped a 56-10 match at Connellsville.

Issac Meyers pinned his 106-pound opponent and Darius McMillon record a major decision at 113 for the lone points for the Indians.

Meanwhile, North Allegheny recorded five falls to power past BP, 38-27, in a match contested at Canon-McMillan.

Mason Kernan (120), Ryan Walsh (172) and Landon Hartman (189) picked up pins for the Black Hawks.

Bryson Bench (138), Cordan McDonnell (145) and Jacob Brown (285) added wins by decision for BP.

The Falcons and Big Macs advanced to the WPIAL semifinals.

Connellsville dispatched Kiski Area, 42-18, while C-M beat NA, 43-24, in quarterfinal bouts.

Two-time defending champion Waynesburg Central and Latrobe make up the other semifinalists. The Red Raiders eased past Norwin, 51-10, while the Wildcats downed Butler, 39-26, in quarterfinal match-ups.

All four semifinalist have qualified for the PIAA team tournament set to begin Feb. 7. The WPIAL finalists advance to the PIAA championships set for Feb. 10 at the Giant Center in Hershey.
